As a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with a private
practice in Southern California for many years, I have worked
with a diverse cultural and socio-economic population. My clientele
has been comprised of individuals (adults, children and adolescents),
families, couples, groups, religious and lay people. Employing
my psychotherapeutic skills and my Christian belief system has
enabled my career to be varied, productive and evolving. In
addition to providing therapy for clients, it has been my privilege
to be a school counselor, educator, speaker, author and spiritual
advisor.
Experience in ten parochial schools through the years, primary and secondary, has prepared me for my current position as On Site Counselor for four parish schools. At one of the schools I have presented a Character Development Program for the past four years, grades 2 through 8. I am also on the Crisis Team for a diocesan High School and assisted at the crisis intervention for the Santana High School shootings.
As an educator, I have taught Faith Growth at the San Diego Diocesan Institute. Grossmont Community College employed me to teach self-help programs on such topics as Forgiveness, Marriage, Communication, Parenting and Anger. I have been the main speaker at Workshops, Seminars and Retreats presented to the general public and to religious which included issues of Self Awareness, Stress Management and Inner Healing. The co-author of the Parent Education Program (PEP) enabled me to minister to many parents in the local area. A main presenter at Pre-Cana for five years allowed me to prepare hundreds of couples for marriage. Currently, I have developed a Sacramental Marriage Program which is an alternative to Engaged Encounter.

Blessed to be one of the founders of the Christian Institute for Psychotherapy and Training, Inc., it was a great honor to be the coordinator for the Counseling Outreach in Tijuana for Mother Theresa’s Missionaries of Charity Fathers. We worked closely with the Fathers and Mother Theresa for several years. My academic and professional experience is enhanced by an ability to integrate both psychology and spirituality.
My newest venture is Word from the Heart Retreats, Days of Renewal, Workshops and Presentations that utilize my giftedness to bring insight, awareness and the love of Christ into daily life.
WORD from the HEART articles are featured on this web site and on the Apostolate of Divine Mercy and Healing (Rev. Ralph DiOrio). Planned for the near future is a tape cassette series based on the WORD from the HEART articles.
